Rotal Networks

CATV Networks

With a proven track record of innovation, Rotal Networks offers cable operators a variety of turnkey broadband solutions enabling them to deliver advanced Triple Play services as well as to provide Digital Pay TV and VOD services. We offer solutions, starting from Analog and Digital network design to the implementation of advanced HFC (Hybrid Fiber COAX) networks. Based on wide expertise in video processing, we provide state-of-the-art enhancement of analog headends for operators offering Digital Pay TV and VOD services.

Headend Solutions

Rotal Networks designs and implements solutions for both analog and digital CATV headends. The headend solutions offer SD and HD capabilities for broadcasting hundreds of channels. The turnkey solution integrates best-of-breed products including encoders, MUX, transcoders, and IRD’s.

RF and Optical Design Solutions

Rotal Networks offers optimized designs for building and upgrading HFC network across the entire path, from the headend to the customer’s premises. The designs are based on digital mapping through AutoCAD and are integrated with GIS systems. The RF design involves calculation of RF levels for the forward and return paths, while the optical design involves calculation of the optical budget, documentation of cable paths, splices, closures and optical boxes. The result of the design process includes the HFC network layout together with comprehensive Bill of Materials, schedule of works and more.

Solution Components

Optical Transmitters - The optical transmitter translates the electrical (analog & digital) signal from the headend into an optical signal suitable for distribution. This signal is transmitted within the 1550nm wavelength band in order to allow optical amplification of this signal.

Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA) – The Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) amplifies the optical signal to a level appropriate for connecting the headend to a large number of end-users. Depending on the number of users and their physical location, one or more EDFAs can be used.

Splitters - The splitters arrange the actual distribution of the signal to the various end-users. These are fully passive devices, not requiring any electrical power feeding or maintenance.
